Don't leave home without it! Even though you MAY be covered under a reciprocal agreement with your country of residence do not rely on it covering 100% of any medical and repatriation costs that may be incurred due to illness or injury.

Good travel insurance will also cover you for delays, lost luggage, accidental injury or damage to third parties or their property.

NOTE: Check that your travel insurance covers you for disruption caused by volcanic ash, many companies have refused to pay out after the recent travel chaos leaving travellers with huge bills for the extra expenses incurred!

For the minimal cost involved travel insurance is a must have item!
